The Ascentia Design System

Project Overview

The Challenge: Okta’s learning content looked disconnected because the tool used to build it was completely separate from the rest of the company’s websites, such as the Support Center and Community pages. This made the user experience feel mismatched and fragmented.

The Strategy: Led the creation of the Ascentia Design System, a shared library of visual guidelines and components designed to connect these platforms. The core objective was to ensure that no matter where a customer interacts with learning content, it looks and feels like a single, seamless experience.

Phase 1: Creative Direction & Brand Consistency

The process began with a thorough audit of the visual differences across all four digital platforms to build a single, reliable visual standard. By standardizing font hierarchies, layouts, and spacing, educational pages were engineered to automatically match Okta’s core corporate identity while keeping everything clean, readable, and fully accessible.

Phase 2: Building the System & Team Workflows

To make sure this system was easy for other creators to adopt, the entire library was built in Figma using clean, flexible templates. Every layout was designed to work perfectly across different platforms, backed by clear style guides to take the guesswork out of the handoff process and completely eliminate back-and-forth friction with development teams.

The Outcome

The new system successfully unified Okta’s learning tools across all platforms, creating a smooth and consistent journey for users. By establishing these shared visual rules, production timelines for the creative team dropped significantly, providing a reliable, organized foundation built to grow with the company.
